The Nigerian Society of Engineers has rewarded a Nigerian student identified as Agnes Egoagwuagwu Maduafokwa and 15 others who had the highest scores in 2025 UTME with a whopping sum of 16 million Naira for their excellent performance in the 2025 UTME.

The young girl who scored 72 in Use of English, 99 in Mathematics, 99 in Physics and 95 in Chemistry 95 became the candidate with the highest UTME score for the year 2025 after she scored 365 out of 400.

In a virtual meeting held recently by Nigerian Society of Engineer (NSE), sixteen secondary school students who were outstanding in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), received scholarship awards from the Nigerian Society of Engineer, NSE.

The other 15 candidates who all applied for Engineering courses in various institutions in Nigeria all scored above 350 in 2025 UTME. Their names and scores are seen below:

• Nwobi Okwuchukwu David – 363
• Ojuba Mezisashe Shalom – 359
• Elikwu Victor Chukwuemeka – 359
• Adebola Oluwatobi Paul – 358
• Gboyega Oluwatobiloba Enoch – 356
• Ojo Samuel Oluwatobi – 355
• Utulu Jebose George – 355
• Osom Akan Awesome – 353
• Akakabota Fejiro Simeon – 352
• Ogundele Favour Jesupemi – 352
• Alatise Monsurah Bisola – 352
• Adelaja Oluwasemilore Daniel – 352

The scholarship award, instituted by NSE is to encourage secondary school student to study engineering and STEM related courses in the university.

In this case the 16 students are to enjoy a 5 year scholarship after gaining admission into the university of their choice studying engineering.

The president of NSE Engr. Babagana Mohammed, FNSE, said, “The registrar of JAMB sent me a message that one of his directors is going to join me on this line; Lawal Yusuf and what he advised me to say is that anyone of them that gets admission and is matriculated will enjoy the scholarship.

“He said not all who got good results would get into school and I asked why. He said some are below age and some schools have a standard and if you don’t meet up with that age, you cannot get admission. That is what the registrar of JAMB sent just now.”

“But for the records, we are going to give a scholarship of five years to each candidate that gains admission. If you gain admission next year, you are still entitled. That is the advice I got from JAMB.”

He promised that the NSE would henceforth grant scholarships to the best UTME applicants.

The NSE chairman also handed out laptops to all the candidates.

This is a great news and I believe it will inspire upcoming candidates to do better in their examination.
