About Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic

The Polytechnic’s history can be traced back to 1979, when it was founded by the late Chief Olabisi Onabanjo’s government in response to the leaders of Ijebu-desire igbo’s for a Tertiary Institution in the town.

The institution lasted for a year and a half before being disbanded by the succeeding Military Government of Colonel Oladipo Diya, who became the Military Governor of Ogun State in 1983.

In 2005, however, fate smiled on Ijebu-igbo when the Ogun State House of Assembly enacted Edict 31 re-establishing the Polytechnic and naming it “THE POLYTECHNIC, IJEBU-IGBO.”

In 2009, the State House of Assembly issued Edict 37, changing the name of the institution from “THE POLYTECHNIC” to “ABRAHAM ADESANYA POLYTECHNIC” in honor of Late Senator Abraham Adesanya, a sage from the area.

Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic is one of the state polytechnics in Nigeria that offers diverse undergraduate programmes.

Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic is a state government polytechnic located in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State. The state-funded and managed polytechnic was founded in the late 90s.

Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic Intends to be the Leading polytechnic in terms of delivery of quality education in the theory and practical aspects of technology.

The polytechnic has no religious affiliation and isn’t affiliated with any ethnic group or culture thus resulting in a diverse student body.
